Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly expands upon the traditional platforming collect-a-thon mechanics established in the original PlayStation trilogy, bringing the series into dynamic 3D open-ended environments.
The story begins during a ceremonial grand festival as young dragons receive their companion dragonflies, only for Ripto and his henchmen Crush and Gulp to cast a spell that disperses the dragonflies across distinct sub-worlds:
Multiple Breath Abilities: In addition to Spyro's traditional Fire Breath, players can switch between specialized elemental breath abilities—including Ice Breath (freezing enemies into platforms), Electric Breath (powering machinery), and Bubble Breath (capturing stray dragonflies).
Dragonfly Rescue Mechanics: Locate and secure 90 distinct dragonflies scattered throughout open stages by stunning them with Bubble Breath or solving environmental puzzles.
Vehicle & Mini-Game Challenges: Ride specialized vehicles—including a UFO, a speeder boat, a tank, and a mantis board—in mini-game challenges to earn additional collectibles and gems.
Expansive Platforming Stages: Glide off high cliffs, charge through Riptoc minion armies, and collect thousands of colorful Gems to unlock new areas within the home world hubs.
Featuring voice talent reprise by Tom Kenny as Spyro and a soundtrack composed by Stewart Copeland, the title brings the classic dragon platformer aesthetic into the GameCube library.
