Beach Spikers: Virtua Beach Volleyball delivers high-speed, competitive beach volleyball action featuring intuitive controls and deep tactical positioning. Developed by Yu Suzuki’s famed Sega AM2 division, the GameCube release expands upon the original NAOMI 2 arcade release with exclusive home-console game modes and custom partner progression systems.
Gameplay utilizes a variable power-gauge mechanic for serving, setting, blocking, and spiking. Precise timing determines the power, trajectory, and accuracy of every shot. In addition to Arcade and Exhibition modes, the GameCube version features a robust "World Tour" mode where players create a custom female blader/volleyball athlete and team up with an AI partner. Through training drills, match victories, and interpersonal communication choices, players develop their AI partner's skills and team chemistry. Winning tournaments unlocks hundreds of customizable outfits, hair styles, accessories, and hidden Sega crossover characters.
