In Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, set several years after the events of Return of the Jedi, Kyle Katarn has severed his connection to the Force after nearly falling to the Dark Side, returning to his mercenary roots alongside Jan Ors. However, when a dark Jedi named Desann and his Imperial Remnant forces attack, Kyle must reclaim his lightsaber and reconnect with the Force to protect the New Republic. The gameplay seamlessly transitions between first-person gunplay with blasters, thermal detonators, and bowcasters in early levels, to third-person action once Kyle regains his Jedi status. Players wield a wide array of Light and Dark Force powers—such as Force Push, Pull, Speed, Grip, and Lightning—and master three distinct lightsaber combat stances to defeat stormtroopers, reborn dark Jedi, and bounty hunters across iconic planets like Cloud City, Yavin IV, and Nar Shaddaa.
