Battalion Wars bridges the gap between high-level military strategy and visceral third-person action. Developed by UK-based Kuju Entertainment in partnership with Nintendo, the game replaces traditional turn-based grid movement with dynamic, real-time battlefields rendered in colorful 3D graphics.
Players take command of the Western Frontier army as they fight against the Tundran Territories and ultimately forge an alliance to combat the surprise invasion of the Xylvanian army. Gameplay seamlessly blends tactical overview commands with direct action: players directly control a single unit on the front lines while simultaneously issuing real-time orders—such as attack, follow, hold position, or guard—to their surrounding squad. Players can instantly transfer control to any unit within their battalion at any moment, switching from rifle grunts and anti-tank veterans to heavy tanks, gunships, and artillery to adapt to changing battlefield conditions.
